India's contribution

Today, I am thinking about being critical of India. :-)

Yesterday I was watching hindi movie named "Purab aur Pachim" (East and West) by one of my favs Mr. Bharat (Manoj) Kumar. Pran (movie villian) provokes him in the party and questions India's contribution. Our HERO starts with "zero diya mere bharat ne..." (India gave '0' to the world). Now zero was contributed way back in 3rd century. We also boost on providing world with "sanskriti" (culture). In recent days, we say India is a big IT contributor.

Indians are treated as one of the brain-iest of the species. Then why do we have to struggle if asked to count the number of innovative technologies created by Indians. Even Mr. Bharat Kumar couldn't think of anything but something that was contributed in 3rd century. Are we not applying our brains to innovate but just resolve the problem at hand?

I think the answer also goes back to our schooling days. Everybody was somehow trying to finish his/her job. The school teachers (I have the highest respect for all the teachers in my life) had a course material to complete and they were busy with that. Students, including me, were trying to pass the examination somehow, even if it was Std 5 exams or the engineering exams. So many theorms were asked to be proven, so many practical exams where we tried to prove what was already known to the world.

In my opinion, students should be allowed to pick up one subject (of their interest) for research apart from what they are doing. Research doesn't mean that you expect the student to come out with new formulae, but just to let them start thinking about innovation from early childhood days. Teachers are an experienced and learned lot, if a student is given quality time with his/her guru when they are just trying to understand concepts and talk about new ideas, without any exam/scoring fear, I think it will do wonders.

Then we should be able to see 20 something CEO's in India creating new teachnology such as Facebook.

I think we will get there one day, but the path needs to be planned now.

Are married men more prone to bollywood actresses

While browsing through some of the bollywood news, I came across a strange pattern. Most of the bollywood film actresses fall for married men. To name a few, Shilpa Shetty married Raj Kundra, Karisma Kapoor married Sanjay Kapur, Kareena is in love with Saif, and many more. There are so many in the film industry that you can count. If I go a little back in time, I see that the pattern continues, that means this is a not a new trend. I am still trying to find out the reason for this and here are my thoughts.

Married men have less choices and are hence soft targets. What I mean is a bachelor will be more flirty in nature, he will have a number of female friends and typically unmarried. So, chances are bachelor men will find an unmarried female. This same person, once married, will mostly stop looking out. But, if somebody approaches her, and that too a bollywood hottie, he will be most vulnerable.

I know there are lots of loop holes in this theory, but again this blog is all about wild thoughts :-)

Putting myself in Lord's shoes

Even though Lord Ram or Allah didn't wear shoes, I am trying to put myself in their shoes. I must say this will the utmost honor of my life, if I am given that kind of opportunity.

Actually, whenever I am getting ready to prepare for a meeting or a presentation, I try to put myself in the customer's shoes to imagine what kind of questions he/she might have. That made me thinking, how about putting myself in Lord's shoes.

Today, people are waiting for the verdict to be announced whether Ayodhya belongs to hindus or it belongs to muslims. Imagine if Lord Ram or Allah actually came down. They will both start discussing whose land it is. I am not very sure, but I think they will not pick up their weapons to solve the problem. Given my limited knowledge, Allah might volunteer to give the land to Lord Ram and Lord Ram might say that no this is yours. And this is not because they are scared of each other, but it will actually show how sensible and caring they are about human race.

Just a thought!

Things around us

Every second there are lots of events happening around us, irrespective of where we are and what we do. All of us have a point of view and want to say something. Some of us actually want to do something as well. Now, where to start.

When I see something happening, I want to talk to somebody about it. But not always I will find the person who also has same interest. e.g. I have an point of view on common wealth games but not everybody may be interested.

So, I thought I will start writing my thoughts on a blog. This way I will be able to share with wider audience. If I am lucky to find a person with similar interest, we can share our views as well. That sounds quite interesting. Hence I am starting this blog.

Since I am an Indian by nationality, the topics might be widely Indian. But in this global and internet world, nothing is really far off from your thoughts.
